2nd-gen 981 moved to a new, lighter and stiffer body/platform with sharper chassis and steering tuning; available PDK and sport packages further improved performance. The 2016 facelift brought PCM infotainment updates.
Cayman S uses a naturally aspirated 3.4L flat-six paired with either a 6-speed manual or 7-speed PDK dual-clutch. Optional Sport Chrono and sports exhaust sharpen throttle and shift behavior.
