3rd-gen F56 moved to BMW’s UKL FWD platform with modular turbo engines, improving body rigidity and NVH while adding more advanced driver-assistance and connected infotainment; the 2018 facelift refreshed lighting and infotainment.

JCW uses a 2.0L turbo I4 (B48) with FWD, typically 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic (later years/markets could get an 8-speed automatic). Sport-oriented calibration with available JCW exhaust/brake hardware depending on market.
