1st-gen GLA introduced the MFA compact platform in SUV form; the AMG 45 brought a high-output 2.0 turbo with AMG Performance 4MATIC AWD. The 2017 facelift updated styling, lighting, infotainment/driver assists and revised the power output.

2.0L turbocharged inline-4 (M133) paired with AMG SPEEDSHIFT 7-speed DCT. AMG Performance 4MATIC variable AWD uses an electro-hydraulic multi-plate clutch to apportion torque (front-biased setup).
