The 1st-gen Abarth 500 is based on the Fiat 500 with uprated chassis, brakes and suspension plus sport aero and performance tuning; the esseesse specification adds higher-output turbo tuning, improved intake/exhaust and stronger braking for sharper acceleration and handling.

1.4L turbocharged inline-4 petrol engine with a 5-speed manual; the esseesse tune boosts output via ECU/turbo and intake/exhaust upgrades. Front-wheel drive setup focused on punchy mid-range torque and response.
