The 1st-gen X4 (F26), derived from the X3, introduced a coupe-like roofline and sportier chassis tuning. It paired BMW EfficientDynamics features (e.g., auto start/stop, brake energy regeneration) with xDrive AWD and selectable drive modes to balance efficiency, handling, and practicality.

The X4 xDrive28i uses a 2.0L turbocharged inline-four petrol engine (N20) with an 8-speed Steptronic automatic and xDrive AWD. Turbocharging and direct injection deliver strong mid-range torque with good everyday efficiency.
