The 1st-gen iX1 (U11) introduced a dedicated full-electric variant with updated BMW eDrive and high-voltage battery tech, alongside a major infotainment upgrade to iDrive 8 (curved dual display) and newer driver-assistance/connectivity features, plus improved packaging and practicality.

The iX1 eDrive20 uses a single front-mounted eDrive motor (FWD) with a single-speed reduction gearbox, powered by a high-voltage lithium-ion battery with DC fast charging and adjustable regenerative braking.
