The 1st-gen iX introduced BMW’s flagship electric SUV with 5th-generation BMW eDrive, a carbon-fiber composite structure (Carbon Cage), a new digital cockpit (iDrive 8/curved display), and extensive ADAS plus OTA upgrades for improved intelligence and safety.
The iX xDrive40 uses a dual-motor AWD setup (one motor per axle) with a single-speed reduction gear. It features BMW’s 5th-gen eDrive integration (motor, inverter and transmission), delivering about 240 kW peak and 630 Nm, with 0–100 km/h in ~6.1 s.
