The 1st-gen i4 introduced BMW’s 5th-generation eDrive (integrated motor/inverter/gear reduction) on the CLAR platform, paired with higher energy-density battery tech, faster DC charging, stronger regenerative braking control, and updated driver-assistance/connectivity in a 4-door Gran Coupé format.
The i4 eDrive35 uses a single rear-mounted e-motor (RWD) with a single-speed reduction gear. A liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery supports DC fast charging and configurable regenerative braking (including stronger one-pedal-style settings). Peak system output is 210 kW.
