The first-generation i3 introduced BMW’s LifeDrive architecture with a CFRP passenger cell and aluminum chassis for lightweight rigidity. The i3s (2017) added sportier chassis tuning, a wider track and sharper steering, plus a higher-output e-motor (135 kW) for stronger acceleration and handling.

Pure-electric, rear-wheel drive single-motor setup with a single-speed reduction gear. The i3s delivers 135 kW and 270 Nm, emphasizing instant torque and a more performance-focused power/chassis calibration.
