The 6th-gen 3 Series (F30) brought a stiffer, more lightweight body structure, revised chassis/steering for sharper dynamics with improved comfort, expanded driver-assistance and ConnectedDrive/iDrive tech, and more efficient turbo engines with fuel-saving measures.

The 320d uses a 2.0L inline-4 common-rail turbo diesel (N47D20) with either a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic (ZF 8HP). It features fuel-saving tech such as auto start/stop and brake energy regeneration; typical output is about 184 PS and 380 Nm.
