The 1st-gen DBS used Aston Martin’s VH aluminium platform with extensive carbon-fibre body parts for lower weight and higher rigidity vs DB9; adaptive damping was introduced (from 2009), with a more performance-focused GT chassis tune.

5.9L naturally aspirated V12 with rear-mounted 6-speed manual or 6-speed Touchtronic torque-converter automatic, rear-wheel drive; high-rev NA character with linear delivery.
